  • Richard Thompson, PhDRichard E. Thompson, PhD (410-502-9327, rthompso@jhsph.edu) is an Associate Scientist in the Department of Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He received his B.S. in physics from Manchester College, North Manchester, IN, his M.S. in physics from the University of Notre Dame, and his Ph.D. in biometry from Medical University of South Carolina. His primary field of research is in the area of environmental statistics. Currently, Dr. Thompson serves as the Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Center. In this capacity, he has collaborated with several clinical and medical investigators through the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes. He has co-authored several papers in a variety of medical fields including cardiology, radiology, neurology, gastroenterology, and medical genetics. Dr. Thompson also serves on the Adult and Neurobehavioral Protocol Review Subcommittees of the Johns Hopkins GCRC. He has been involved with the BCRSRC since inception, and currently serves as the Director. He provides oversight and guidance for all of the BCRSRC’s functions. He also works directly with scholars to provide advice and guidance on study design and statistical analyses.
